Historically, hops are widely recognised for their use in beer but more recently have been highly sought after for their beautiful decorative qualities. At Essentially Hops we have over 50 years of growing experience and over 15 years of selling decorative hop garlands by mail order and we pride ourselves on this special product. We now grow our hops exclusively for decoration, ensuring the quality is the best we can achieve.Decorative hops can be purchased fresh at hop picking at the end of August, or dried throughout the rest of the year. Fresh hops are generally preferred, but they MUST be hung as soon as they are received so that they can dry naturally in the home.
We dry the hops at harvest in custom built kilns so that we can supply dried hop garlands all year round.
Hop garlands are approximately 8-10 feet in length and once dried can be stored for use at any time.
Delicate to handle, the natural hop garland is most commonly seen on beams, above cupboards and dressers and over fireplaces and windows. If you have not handled hops before please telephone 01227 830666 for advice.
