Historically, hops are widely recognised for their use in beer but more recently have been highly sought after for their beautiful decorative qualities. At Essentially Hops we have over 50 years of growing experience and over 20 years of selling decorative hop garlands by mail order and we pride ourselves on this special product. We now grow our hops exclusively for decoration, ensuring the quality is the best we can achieve. Hops can be frustrating to handle, but look fabulous on beams, above cupboards and dressers and over fireplaces and windows. They are extremely popular at wedding venues. Why not grow your own hops?

We specialise in selling commercial varieties of hop, those that are grown for brewing. Each variety differs slightly in colour, shape & size, and aroma & alpha acid content. All the varieties produce the beautiful lime green flower cone late summer and is fragrent addition to any garden. The best time to plant hops is during the winter months when the plant is dormant.
